Biography
Jimmie James found a sense of self in making things, building, watching how processes gathered to themselves to make meaning. By playing with colors, paper, fire, water, there emerged a co-mingling of himself with these materials. A dialogue in the form of making paintings opened within James that he felt was also bigger than himself.
James' paintings reflect, contain, and give witness to an intimacy he experiences in reference to being alive. They capture and demand a conversation, a relationship, a ceremony, an act of meeting…whatever happens or appears in the world within or without. The paintings contain their own meaning. They become a portal, a platform, and an invitation for others to listen to themselves.
